Faith pose Cellshading by TswordZ

Although proud for finishing my work :icononioncleanplz:, I'm not so much for the time it takes me :iconmiseryplz:

Whatever. I've finally finished my first digital drawing. It was a challenge for me, for I know nothing about this form of drawing. I was astonished for the effort it required to get used to draw in a tablet :icontabletplz: and for the cool finishing of the drawing after some effects :icondragonwant:

I began looking for a great number of tutorials about things I thought could be useful to learn. After that I practiced tablet drawing doing some exercises recommended is one of the tutorials. After a week I started with the lineart. It take me some time and a lot of corrections, but I achieve to finish it in nearly a week (Too many corrections :icondragonxpplz:). After that I started with base colors. Nothing too difficult, except a couple of mistakes with the technique.
However, shading was really a pain for me. Not for technique, but for the number of them. I often finish mixing styles, getting not good results. I decided to go with Cellshading, for it looks easier. Nevertheless, as the model image was realistic type, I had added more shading than required, until I learned that with this style "less is more". I advanced faster then, although I had some problems trying to get the shadows in the right place.
For a couple of month I was stuck in this stage. I didn't like enough the result. That until yesterday, when I watched a speedpaint video of SolKorra where she completed a portrait in just one hour. That made me feel bad for taking so much time in my project, so I decided to finish it once and for all. I did some corrections to the shadows and then started with effects and filters. I had some notes about several effects I coul use, so I started to apply them. At midnight the drawing was finished. Sign it give me some minor complications (I had to think in a sign I could remember :icondragonxpplz:).
So, thanks SolKorra for give me the incentive I needed for finish this drawing. Now, serene and with more knowledge, I can prepare my next project :icononionamericaplz:
  • Mood: Pride
  • Listening to: Nightwish
  • Reading: El Hombre Estelar
  • Watching: Hunter X Hunter
  • Playing: Mass Effect 2
  • Eating: Pizza
  • Drinking: Coke

While I was a kid I really liked to draw little comics. When I was on school I drawed on free times, sometimes a badass character, sometimes a detailed background. Also I discovered I could write some nice stories from just some fragments of text.
Then... something happened. I lost that impulse for drawing, for writing. And some years passed away.
So, after a while lost, I found a game interesting enough for write about it. At first it was some short descriptions about my feelings from the game, but then that story grew more and more. So, with that I also recovered the enjoyment for drawing and started to sketch some characters. Then I decided to come here, to DeviantArt, and put together my work, so it won't be lost as the others I did when I was on school, where I could learn from others and enjoy great deviations.
Now, I even made some friends, like xAmeChanx and SolKorra, of who I'm learning a lot. I'm improving my stories, I'm improving my drawings and also I'm trying new styles. It's good to be here :-)
